Mike Tyson’s Ear-Shaped Cannabis Gummies Aren’t Welcome in Colorado, Under State Law

In a right-hook to former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson's cannabis business, his new line of cannabis gummies shaped like ears has been deemed unacceptable for sale in Colorado due to state law.

The edibles, aptly named "Mike Bites," pay homage to Tyson's infamous ear-biting incident during the 1997 WBA Heavyweight Championship fight against Evander Holyfield.

Tyson, who is gearing up for a comeback fight against Jake Paul in July, had planned a promotional blitz for his Tyson 2.0 brand, including an event in Times Square. However, Colorado's strict regulations on marijuana edibles prevent them from being shaped like humans, animals, fruit, or any other images that might attract children.

On June 28, 1997, one of the more bizarre moments in boxing history took place when Mike Tyson bit off a portion of Evander Holyfield's ear in the third round of their much-anticipated rematch. Tyson was disqualified from the bout and lost his boxing license. (Boxing News)

Undeterred, Tyson 2.0 intends to modify the shape of the edibles from a "bitten ear" to the letter "T" before introducing them to the Centennial State later this year. Despite this setback, the cannabis company remains determined to bring its unique products to the market.

Tyson has been involved in the marijuana business since 2016 and reportedly earns over $653,000 per month from it.

However, not everyone in the cannabis industry is thrilled about promoting his THC-infused products. Critics point to Tyson's criminal record, which includes a 1992 conviction for raping Miss Black America contestant Desiree Washington in Indiana, as well as accusations of spousal abuse. Some argue that better role models should be chosen to represent the industry.

While the situation may be humorous due to the novelty of ear-shaped cannabis gummies, it raises important questions about the responsibility of cannabis businesses and the appropriateness of certain endorsements.
