Ken Buck Is Unwilling to Do the Job His Constituents Want, Hold Mayorkas Accountable

It's time for Rep. Ken Buck to pack his bags and say goodbye to the people of Colorado's 4th Congressional District.

After years of promising to stand up for conservative values and prioritize the needs of his constituents, Buck has proven, at least over the course of the last 18 months, to be incredibly weak on core Republican issues.

Buck's recent announcement that he will not vote to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is just the latest in a long line of disappointments for the people of Colorado.

Mayorkas, who has been at the helm of border security for over three years, has been an utter failure in his duties to secure our nation's borders – no question.

Despite record levels of illegal immigration, Mayorkas has continuously lied to the American people about the state of our border. He has also been accused of committing perjury in his previous testimonies to Congress. It's clear that Mayorkas has not only failed in his job, but he has also broken the law in the process.

Yet, Buck has chosen to look the other way and let him off the hook. Could any of his constituents imagine the “take no prisoners” Ken Buck of 2022 doing the same?

His excuse? Fear of setting a "precedent" for impeaching cabinet officials.

But where was this concern when Democrats were constantly targeting former President Donald Trump with impeachment attempts? Where was Buck's spine then? It seems like he only cares about setting a precedent when it comes to holding his own party accountable.

Furthermore, Buck's declaration that impeaching Mayorkas would open the door for future impeachments of Republican cabinet officials is just an excuse for his own inaction. As if Democrats need a reason to go after Republicans in any way they can.

Let's be honest, could there be any conservative voters of Colorado's 4th District really sad to see Buck go? It's doubtful. In fact, it's more likely that they are breathing a sigh of relief as they bid farewell to a representative who has recently failed to live up to his promises and stand up for what is right.

So farewell, Rep. Ken Buck. Your time in Congress may be coming to an end. It's time for someone with strong conservative values and a backbone to take your place and serve the people of Colorado with the integrity and honesty that they deserve.
